PRODUCT INFORMATION

Shibori is a highly sought-after and collectible Japanese textile, crafted using an intricate resist-dyeing technique. The term "shibori" means “to wring” or “to squeeze.” To create a shibori kimono, the design is first stenciled and engraved onto the fabric. Then, beads are wrapped in the fabric and bound tightly with needle and thread, wrapped around each bead nine times, before the fabric is dipped into the dye. Once the dyeing process is complete, the bindings are removed, revealing shibori’s signature 3D texture. It can take approximately 150,000 beads to create the fabric for a single haori jacket. Experience the meticulous craftsmanship for yourself.

This one-size-fits-most petite furisode (coming of age, extra long sleeved) kimono has a floral shibori pattern with gold embroidery and is lined with white silk and an orange ombre border along the edges. It has been tucked to narrow the shoulders likely because is was a kimono for a young girl. The Japanese often altered kimonos by tucking kimonos to fit so they could be grown into because  the tick can be let loose as needed. Can be worn open or belted, casual or dressy. Handsewn and lined with silk. Dress, hat and jewelry styled with the kimono are not included.

**PLS NOTE this kimono has callouts / Imperfections **

There is a 2" stain on the edge of the right sleeve and a tiny stain on the inside lining right edge. These might be removed by spot cleaning by a profesional dry cleaner.  See  phtoos for a closer look.
