"Rising Sun" Kimono, as seen at MFAH 2026 Trunk Show
Rising Sun is Nicole Peralta’s elegant nod to Japanese culture and symbolism.
Set against a softly patterned silk ground, the back of the kimono features a bold black circle, referencing the sun at the center of the Japanese flag. Around it, hand-stamped floral forms radiate outward, creating a quiet sense of movement, balance, and reverence. The composition feels both graphic and organic: a rising sun surrounded by blossoms in bloom.
Crafted using hand-carved linoleum, the stamped black and bright pink flowers bring a handmade rhythm to the surface of the silk. The result is a wearable artwork that honors tradition while carrying the fresh, contemporary spirit of Kimono Zulu.
