VENDOR: Kimono Zulu
Shibori is a highly sought-after and collectible Japanese textile, crafted using an intricate resist-dyeing technique. The term "shibori" means “to wring” or “to squeeze.” To create a shibori kimono, the design is first stenciled and engraved onto the fabric. Then, beads are wrapped in the fabric and bound tightly with needle and thread, wrapped around each bead nine times, before the fabric is dipped into the dye. Once the dyeing process is complete, the bindings are removed, revealing shibori’s signature 3D texture. It can take approximately 150,000 beads to create the fabric for a single haori jacket. Experience the meticulous craftsmanship for yourself.
This one-size-fits-most kimono is mid-length, and made of a lightweight deep purple silk and is reversible, featuring a fun and funky, floral and geometric lining with orange, peach, pink, gold and baby blue accents.
